Dad Dumps 80,000 Pennies on Lawn for Child Support

This Dad was ordered by a judge to pay $800 in child support. Needless to say, this was not the greatest of divorces, he was not happy.

So he loaded 80,000 pennies into a trailer and dumped them on her lawn. But the judge was having none of that, he said the money would remain there until he actually paid them mom.

Mom and daughters gave the money to a local domestic abuse charity.

Hmmm… Nobody is going to call him on this, but the judge actually broke federal law. Current is “legal tender for all debts public and private.” Once a debt is incurred, it is illegal to not accept any kind of U.S. currency. This of course does not apply in places were you buy stuff off the shelf, because a debt is not actually incurred. Them’s the laws.
