In today’s episode of “Auction Regret: The Series,” a German man scored a used Mercedes GLE, drove two feet, slammed the brakes, and discovered his luxury SUV stops about as well as a shopping cart with square wheels. Why? Because some criminal genius replaced the brake pads with literal blocks of wood—Brembo branding courtesy of a Sharpie and zero shame. The wood disintegrated faster than the seller’s alibi, chewing up the rotors and nearly turning the GLE into a 2-tonne toboggan. Police are now hunting the former owner, who clearly subscribes to the “if it’s brown, slow it down” school of automotive safety.
