This is a chart of how long it takes to brute force attack your crypto password with currently available tech. Brute force just means systematically trying every possible password combination.

It doesn’t really say, but I’m assuming this is with commercially available machines, as opposed to the supercomputer jobs used by NSA.

My current favorite password (I know, having a favorite is not good), still requires 5 months. Could be worth it to get those pictures of me in the gym bulging through my t-shirt.

I’m imagining thought that NSA could do this much faster (like 100,000 times faster). So I’m seriously thinking about those longer passwords.

But also keep in mind that a lot of systems are not subject to this (because there are delay’s between tries). This is primarily about hacking a crypto device.
