Somewhere in the North Sea, the future of the internet might end up humming inside a giant wind turbine like the world’s most overachieving washing machine. Startup Aikido Technologies wants to place AI-hungry data centers inside the submerged ballast tanks of floating turbines, letting wind power the servers while cold ocean water cools them down. The prototype, scheduled to launch off the coast of Norway, is part of a broader race to solve the growing energy appetite of AI infrastructure. If it works, the cloud may literally live at sea.
