If someone is already dead from heart failure and have no brain function, these researchers are transplanting pigs hearts into them to keep their organs fresh.
Seems reasonable, eventually the body would reject the heart (other researchers are solving those problems), but it keeps blood flowing and the organs functioning for 72 hours. A normal organ transplant must be done within 4-10 hours to be viable.
