If you are and old person like me, then you remember the Monkees, who, for a couple of years in a row, outsold both the Beatles and the Rolling Stones in record sales. Their hit show was quite the phenomenon, the precursor to the Boy Band trend of later years.
The video below is the audition of lead singer heartthrob Davy Jones (who was only about 5’3″) as a punk kid that nobody knew.
