“The Real Deal” was an online marketplace where you could find all kinds of illegal stuff.

They focused on access, login credentials to sensitive websites and databases, including those from federal agencies.

Daniel Kaye, 34, of London, is alleged to be the administrator. The Feds say they got him.

And of course if they got him, they also have leads into where all of his data is coming from.

This is a heck of a resume for a super villain:

“Kaye is said to have run The Real Deal from 2015 to 2017 under a variety of pseudonyms, including “Spdrman,” “Bestbuy,” “UserL0ser,” “David Cohen,” “Dlinch Kravitz,” and others. Using these digital disguises, he pedaled stolen login credentials for government agencies, including NASA, the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Postal Service, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He is also alleged to have worked together with another criminal—a still unidentified user dubbed “thedarkoverlord”—to sell stolen Social Security numbers.”

And also:

“Kaye was initially arrested and extradited to Germany, where he faced charges for crashing hundreds of Deutsche Telekom routers. He was given a suspended sentence by German authorities

“He eventually spent 32 months in prison after pleading guilty to charges from the U.K.’s National Crime Agency related to the attacks on Liberia.

“He was also accused of masterminding damaging attacks on Lloyds and Barclay banks but ultimately was released in early 2020. “”He was also accused of masterminding damaging attacks on Lloyds and Barclay banks but ultimately was released in early 2020. “

I’d be interested to know how much money he made doing this. Is it profitable to be a supervillain in the modern world?
