This is an amazing development for people with nerve damage, an artificial nerve that stretches.

This is working in mice. They were able to simulate paralysis, and then bypass the paralyzed nerves. I can imagine that this will eventually allow many paralyzed patients to walk again.

A real advancement is that this works on a very small amount of power. Considering it involves a microprocessor to control, this is a critical factor.
