This is clearly the next major controversy. Some are saying that the legal precedents used by the U.S. Supreme Court to impose gay marriage on the country (in the midst of huge controversies all around) are about to be struck down.
That would mean that state would no longer be bound by that ruling and their previous laws and constitutional amendments regarding same sex marriage would be in force once again.

As you can see, gay marriage is banned in MOST states by constitutional amendment. Statutes can be overturned rather easily, constitutional amendments are a lot more difficult.
This is not going to happen soon. It needs a court case that rises to the level of Supreme Court action, which takes a very long time.
