350 tractors in one march, Dutch farmers are in full protest mode. Dutch police have actually fired upon these unarmed farmers (but then again a farmer driving a large diesel tractor isn’t exactly unarmed).
Apparently the emissions standards for farmers are now so expensive that farmers are not able to stay in business.
Some people are saying that putting the farmers out of business is really the primary idea. The government believes they have a better use for the land.
This is foolish in so many way by the Dutch government. They apparently have not learned from the gas and oil crisis that if you don’t take care of the production of primary products, you are subject to blackmail. The liberals call this “food security” but they take for granted the supply and don’t understand the markets.
