Do you remember the Heaven’s Gate cult? They were the ones who believed that an alien spacecraft was following the Hale-Bopp Comet, coming to save them and take them away. 39 of them committed suicide by in 1997 – thus ending the cult.
Turns out in apparent pursuit of their ideal of androgynous immortality, the leaders castrated themselves.
So they all committed suicide in preparation for the aliens to take them away. But did they? Or were their spirits magically absorbed into the alien ship and perhaps they are living on the alien planet EVEN NOW!!!
