That’s how I read this and given the context, it is not out of the question.
Kay Tye heads a lab at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in La Jolla, California. Her study shows how a certain molecular “swtich” can flag an event as positive or negative.
She was able to trick mice into thinking (as best I can tell) an electric shock was not so bad and that sugar was not so good. The mice apparently still learned the truth, but learned it a lot more slowly.
So back to the title of this article. If this goes further, we should be able to experience spinach as a good experience, and Dr. Pepper as bad.
The spinach experience would, of course, be better if they could add some Popeye muscles at the same time. But they will NEVER make Dr. Pepper a bad experience….
I’m not sure I like this. Seems like some mental manipulation to me, that should not fall into the wrong hands (i.e. don’t let doctors have it…).
