Just in case you have been climbing a mountain in Tibet since yesterday morning, you should know that the Supreme Court just struck down Roe v. Wade, the 50 year old ruling that proclaimed abortion as a constitutional right.
This does not make abortion illegal, it simply hands the decision of abortion legality back to the state and local elected leaders.
But a great many states have provisions that automatically make abortion illegal upon the overruling of Roe v. Wade. And a number of states will work on the opposite end of the spectrum and make it legal until right before the birth of the child.
The Supreme Court is majority conservative right now, and for the near future. The overruling passed 6-3.
This is not over by any means. In fact, expect violent protests over this weekend.
