This is one of the worlds great tragedies, and one that we don’t talk about very much.
The genocide in Rwanda of the Tutsis by the Hutus killed 800,000 people. That was said to be about 81% of the total Tutsi population at that time.
And this took place in 100 days.
I doubt that you could tell a Tutsi from a Hutu if they walked up to you in the street in New York City. There are no significant linguistic or religious differences between them. This was not about race, it was about tribalism.
