If this doesn’t scare you, nothing will.

The theory is that Tamagotchi “meta kids” will be born in a virtual existence and will be indistinguishable from real kids as far as the parenting experience is concerned. Hmmm. Not quite.

According to the article, the advantages are minimal cost and environmental impact. That’s our concern?? Not the procreation of the species? Not the meaning of life that we find in creating the next generation?

I guess they are not seeing the drawbacks here. Like the human race ceases to exist. Like eventually these whackos will want to give “rights” to these software simulations.

But it is a sign of the times. The younger generations want “experiences” but they somehow don’t want the WHOLE experience, just the good parts. They want to climb a mountain, but the simulation is easier. They want to grow a garden, but they can do it in ten minutes with a video game. The want to be a fashion designer but they don’t want to actually pull out a needle and thread. They want to fly, but FlightSim is good enough.

This is insanity.

Tamagotchi kids: could the future of parenthood be having virtual children in the metaverse?
