Europa is a small moon of Jupiter, about 3000 km in diameter, slightly smaller than our own moon. Surface gravity is less than 1.6 G.
But Europa may be the most suitable place in the solar system for humans. We know already that it has water.
However a new study estimates that there may be a “warm” layer of water 30 Km think underneath the cold surface. If any energy can be brought to bear, water means oxygen and the potential for sustainable human habitats.
They are calculating this base on a comparison of similar ridge formations in Greenland on Earth. This is amazing science, but they admit it is a bit speculative.
Unfortunately, “warm” in this case may still be 200 degrees below zero, so don’t forget your winter coat.
