When you think “dream home,” you probably don’t imagine a fixer-upper in the middle of nowhere that costs less than your morning coffee. But for George Laing, 85p got him a charming three-story house in Sicily, complete with no water, no electricity, and a 10km uphill trek to reach it. And while George is busy renovating his bargain basement, it’s safe to say that his “home sweet home” comes with a few extra stings – like a second mortgage just for travel expenses. They say you get what you pay for; in George’s case, he paid in pocket change but got a workout worthy of a marathon.
