Chicago schools seem to have a knack for prioritizing lessons that aren’t exactly adding up – literally. While only a fraction of their students can solve basic math problems or read at grade level, the district is racing ahead to teach kindergarteners about gender identity and fifth graders about puberty blockers. Maybe if they taught algebra with as much enthusiasm, Chicago’s kids might figure out that X really does mark the spot… on their report cards.
