Berlin, the Center of Debauchery in the 1920’s

I never knew this before this documentary, but Berlin after World War I became the most famously decadent city in the world.

According to this documentary (R rated, at least…), there were 100,000 prostitutes operating there and you could find every sort (EVERY sort) of sexual deviation possible in Berlin in the 1920’s and 1930’s. There were social groups and clubs for all of it.

This, of course, attracted a lot of famous and interesting people to the point of having a sophisticated arts culture as well, including a vibrant film industry.

Then Hitler arrived and shut it all down.
