Why did Congress just approve $52 Billion for chip manufacturing in the U.S.? This graphic describes the market. Note that the U.S. buys 46% of the chips but produces only about 9% (or something like that, the graphic is a bit weird.
This is one of the few Congressional actions this term that I approve of. Semiconductors are vital to production in the U.S. and to our economy as a whole. If China attacks Taiwan which produces 66% of chips, there could be a massive shortfall in the U.S. and around the the world.
