Jim Green, NASA’s retiring chief scientist, says that we may be able to terraform Mars, i.e. make it livable for humans to breathe and live. He says that the lack of a magnetic field like Earth has, allowed the Sun to strip away Mars’ atmosphere. A magnetic shield between Mar’s and the Sun could assist in returning an atmosphere to it. Maybe Venus too!
This is pretty heady stuff. I’m not going to be buying lakefront property on Mars anytime soon (no matter how hard my brother-in-law tries to sell it to me)>
