FINALLY! A Hero in the NBA.
Celtics player Enes Kanter made some strong statements criticizing the Chinese treatment of the Uyghurs, a Muslim culture (Kanter is also Muslim). For this, China has banned all Celtics videos from being shown in China. Kanter is not backing down.
On Twitter he wrote:
XI JINPING and the Chinese Communist Party Someone has to teach you a lesson, I will NEVER apologize for speaking the truth. You can NOT buy me. You can NOT scare me. You can NOT silence me.
Will the NBA finally grow a pair and support free speech? I’m kinda doubting it…
And now to the soap box. This is how a totalitarian government works. The least little criticism sets them off and they punish everybody without regard. America is free BECAUSE we have the freedom to criticize. China will never be free. And yet, we ignore the actions of China as they threaten Taiwan, they attempt to dominate their region and they steal our technology.
