In one step closer to a driverless car utopia, amazon has started testing their robotaxi on the real road carrying real passengers.
The long term vision of projects like this is to have unmanned autonomous cars acting like Ubers, able to pick people up from their location and bring them where-ever they need to go for cheaper than the cost of owning a car. This vision is shared by people like Elon Musk and should reduce the total number of cars needed for transport, as each car can be utilized at a much higher rate. Pretty cool for the environmentalists out there!
