Australia’s Commonwealth Bank has decided to monitor your banking transactions and use that information to “nudge” you into making changes in your carbon footprint. The bank calculates a person’s carbon footprint based on the transactions using their credit or debit cards.

They say they are not sharing the data. But it does appear they are abusing your information.

If we allow banks to begin to process you private information to force (nudge?) you to change your behavior, does it matter that it is for a “good cause”?

This is sick.

This would cause me to immediately change banks.
