This is a CNN article. The answer apparently is they girls today are under a lot more pressure than they used to be.
In one sense I think it is all crap, because it is CNN (totally full of crap) and because the trajectory from girl to woman is still pretty straightforward.
But on the other hand, communications move much faster now, a texted rumor can circulate to an entire city in mere minutes. Plus girls have access to a great amount of additional information that was not available before. So processing takes a lot more time and energy, and the penalties for being out of the loop are more apparent.
The article addresses “girls” but boys have the same issues, but in “boy” world. But that is not as good a headline for the CNN article.
The article is a decent read.
