This pisses me off.

“U.S. doctors should regularly screen all adults under 65 for anxiety, an influential health guidelines group proposed Tuesday.

“It’s the first time the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force has recommended anxiety screening in primary care for adults without symptoms. The proposal is open for public comment until Oct. 17, but the group usually affirms its draft guidance.”

What happens when you tell a doctor to check you for anxiety?

He will not take a chance that there is a problem that he could miss, he might get sued. Doctors are whores this way.

And lest you believe this is an official arm of the U.S. government? No it is not. They are “volunteers.” Would someone care to find out if they have any conflicts of interest?

“The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force is an independent, volunteer panel of national experts in disease prevention and evidence-based medicine.”

I.e. self proclaimed experts, who have now decided that all of America needs to check for an illness they never knew they had, but who are gullible enough to be persuaded. “Oh my God I was startled when that bus almost hit me. I have anxiety, give me some Xanax right away!”

Watch for an “epidemic” of anxiety as these guys get the word out.

The LA Times has become a pawn to these bullshitters.
